Sometimes we deserve to be laughed at.

I just recently ran across the blog of Matthew Paul Turner. There is a lot of good content on there. What first took me there was that a Facebook friend and former colleague posted a link by guest blogger Dianna Anderson. Dianna made an insightful argument about how Christianity is often not a safe place for hurting people. Sadly, she is correct despite the fact that there really should be no safer place. Then I went to look at the newest blog posts by Matthew Paul Turner. And, I ran into the gem above. over the last couple of years I have been noticing more and more how odd Christian’s can be. It seems that anytime a Christian, or group of Christians, is marginalized they claim it is because the world hates Christ. There is no doubt that there is enmity between Christ and the world. But, sometimes we Christians are just crazy, stupid, vengeful, or even plain evil. Sometimes when the world disdains us, it is not because of Christ but because we do dumb stuff. Sometimes when they laugh, it is because we are laughable.
