Angolan authorities have accused Jackie Shroyer, the wife of slain American missionary Beau Shroyer, of orchestrating his murder to continue her relationship with a local man. Jackie allegedly paid $50,000 to three Angolan men to carry out the fatal attack on October 25 in Lubango. Beau Shroyer, 44, was serving as a missionary with SIM USA alongside Jackie and their five children.
Affair and Motive Allegations
Police identified Bernardino Elias, one of the accused men, as Jackie’s lover and an occasional housekeeper and security guard for the Shroyers. Authorities claim Jackie sought to remain in Angola despite her husband’s plans to leave. The other suspects, Isalino Kayoo, 23, and Gelson Ramos, 22, reportedly have histories of armed robbery and kidnapping. While Elias and Kayoo are in custody, Ramos remains at large.
Lured to Remote Location
Investigators allege the three men rented a car and staged a breakdown in a remote area. Beau Shroyer, a former Minnesota pastor and Detroit Lakes police officer, was called to assist. Jackie accompanied him and left the scene briefly, purportedly to use the bathroom. During this time, the assailants reportedly ambushed Beau, stabbing him to death. Authorities recovered an American-made knife and local currency at the scene.
Community Reacts to Tragedy
After Beau pastored Lakes Area Vineyard Church in Minnesota, the Shroyer family moved to Angola in 2021 for missionary work. The church community now cares for their five children. Pastor Troy Easton expressed deep sorrow for the family but confirmed they are receiving support.
Supporters and Critics Speak Out
Supporters have emphasized Beau’s dedication to his mission and mourn the tragic end of his service. However, critics point to the affair and Jackie’s alleged betrayal as a stark contrast to the family’s public image.
