Access Church pastors Brian and Sandra Sisneros were fired and removed over Easter weekend. The Texas megachurch also faced a leadership shakeup, but leaders shared few specifics. On April 4, the board of overseers posted the decision on Facebook and the church website. The statement said the move followed prayer, counsel, and careful consideration. It also ended the coupleโs role immediately, and it offered no public explanation.
Board cites process, but keeps reasons private
The overseers said they would limit details to protect the integrity of the process. They framed the decision as best for the church, so they declined to discuss โrecent events.โ The board also promised accountability and spiritual oversight during the transition. It said the overseers would remain actively involved and pledged support as the church moves forward. Still, members received no timeline, and they heard no mention of an inquiry.
Border campuses feel the strain as staff exits mount
Access Church operates main campuses in Del Rio and Eagle Pass, two border cities in southwestern Texas. Days earlier, Rafa Menchaca, pastor of Access Espaรฑol at both locations, announced he would leave. He said โrecent circumstancesโ drove the choice, but he would not share full details publicly. Menchaca also said his departure did not involve wrongdoing by his family. He said he stepped away because he wanted to stay aligned with integrity and conviction, no matter the cost.
Preaching on conviction collides with public silence
In late March, Brian Sisneros urged the congregation to choose conviction over comfort. He said people must stand for truth, but they may face pressure to bow. The Roys Report contacted Access Church for answers about the firing and any investigation, but it received no response. Before the boardโs announcement, the church canceled a Good Friday night service planned at the Maverick County Amphitheater in Eagle Pass. Soon after, the overseers named Emmanuel and Naiya Pacheco, pastors from the Del Rio campus, as new lead pastors, and they described a season of healing and restoration.
Supporters seek clarity, detractors demand transparency
Supporters want unity and pastoral care because confusion can fracture trust. Detractors question the secrecy and worry that vague statements weaken accountability. Both groups watch closely as the Access Church leadership shakeup continues.
